ARTIST BIO
David DeLuca is a multidisciplinary artist from South Kingstown, Rhode Island, working primarily in oil painting alongside photography and drawing. His work is shaped by a non-academic approach, guided by intuition and imagination rather than strict observation. He maintains a private studio at 50 Sims in Providence.
Mentored for over 20 years by Warren, Rhode Island–based artist Angelo Marinosci Jr.—an oil painter, musician, and photographer—DeLuca has developed a deeply personal practice centered on painting from his mind. For DeLuca, the process of making the painting is central to the work itself.
Working with bright color, texture, and visible brushwork, he builds each piece through layers of movement and decision-making, emphasizing atmosphere and interpretation over realism. His photography and drawing serve as extensions of this process, informing and expanding his painted work.
